A
small gray-brown oval-shaped, and about 3/16' long seed of an
herb of the parsley family. It is identified by it's licorice
flavor.
It gives the characteristic aroma to Anisette and other liqueurs.
It resembles the flavor of fennel.
USES:
Cookies, Cakes, Fruit cups and Compotes.
SOURCES:
Originally from the region east of the Mediterranean Today we
get it from Spain, Turkey, Egypt, and Mexico. |
